Honda National Water Polo League
 27 Apr - 16 Jun 2019

Published: 6th May 2019
The Waitakere Men and Women's teams travelled south to Lower Hutt over the weekend during round two of the Honda National Water Polo League.

Playing to full houses at Huia Pool, both clubs shared the spoils with Waitakere Women winning their two games and Hutt Men winning theirs.

The Hutt Women fought well against very strong opposition but went down 7-12 and 8-16.

The Hutt Men had their fans worried at 1-7 early in the second quarter. Coach Mattt Claridge steadied the ship and the momentum gradually turned our way as he pushed his men to finish strongly and eventually win 10-9.

Hutt's Hamish Booker showed real character having been pulled out of the game with a cut eye. But then the McGuinness brothers got to work on him like a boxer in the corner between rounds, and had Hamish safely bandaged up tight to re-enter the game and score one of the winning goals.
